CWBA’s President elect, Alison Connaughty, kicked off her first On What Grounds session on Friday, July 12. It was a success! This session was extremely special as Alison shared about her own leadership experience and was joined by current CWBA president, Carime Lee, and Immediate Past President, Emma Garrison. As a collaborative session, a few other familiar faces in the CWBA also participated and talked about their leadership styles and values.
While what drew Alison, Carime, and Emma to leadership slightly varied, they all shared how personal values and vulnerability can be used as a strength when leading, including vulnerability about one’s own life experiences and vulnerability to articulate opinions even if they may be unpopular or go against long standing precedent.
So what can members expect from future On What Grounds sessions? Alison is committed to these sessions serving its members and discussing how we can inspire and foster leadership opportunities, including in the organization itself. Be sure to mark your calendars for the next inspiring On What Grounds session on October 11, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. United States District Court of Colorado Judge Charlotte Sweeney, who is the 2023 Mary Lathrop award recipient, will be joining Alison in discussion about the creation and evolution of leadership styles. Alison will also be hosting the Deputy Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division, Hetal Doshi, on November 8, 2024, from 8:30-9:30 a.m., in a discussion about mentoring, friendship, and the intersection of the two.
