Top Ten Reasons to Attend The CWBA Convention on May 21st

Updated: May 16, 2021

10. Three letters: C L E. We got ‘em and you need ‘em.

9. Trailblazers are honored! Each year a legal trailblazer is recognized with the Mary Lathrop Trailblazer Award at the CWBA Convention, and this year we recognize the 2020 honoree, Velveta Golightly-Howell, and the 2021 honoree, Judge Karen Ashby. You will have a front-row seat as we celebrate their accomplishments during the lunchtime celebration at 12:30 on Friday. Be inspired by real women! (Okay a little truth in advertising – everyone has a front-row seat in this virtual format. And most importantly, everyone can and is encouraged to attend this free celebration! But sign up for the full Convention as future trailblazers may be in attendance!)

8. Network, network, network. Make Convention your personal kickoff to a year of building meaningful contacts. As you attend the sessions, identify people with whom you want to connect. Whether it be former colleagues, past committee members, or new acquaintances, commit to contacting three people by the close of the convention at Noon on Saturday. Just do it!

7. This is an environmentally friendly Convention. No carbon credits will be purchased to offset emissions associated with this year’s Convention. Open your windows on May 21 and feel the planet loving you back!

6. One ethics credit offered courtesy of The Law Club. Have you heard the Law Club perform before? Enough said!

5. May 21 is the 141st day in this year. On the day of Convention, you will have 224 days left in the year to accomplish all those other action items on your to-do list. Make Convention a priority. Take action and register now!

4. Need a plan for the year? Create a vision board on Saturday morning, May 22. What is a vision board? Register for Convention, and you’ll discover why so many people achieve their goals by undertaking this meaningful exercise!

3. The next episode of "Ted Lasso" (Season 2) is not released until July 23, so your calendar is wide open to attend.

2. Throughout the year, you heard CWBA President Miranda Hawkins discuss portions of Brené Brown’s book, Dare to Lead, during her Friday morning "On What Grounds?" virtual leadership café sessions. And now, you want more . . . and Convention committee is delivering! A Dare to Lead workshop kicks off Convention. You won’t be disappointed.

1. And the final reason to attend Convention: Togetherhood! There is something profoundly special about the CWBA, and it starts with members and non-members gathering together at Convention. If you've attended Convention before, you know that feeling. If not, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Consider this your personal invitation to embrace the CWBA’s supportive environment. Be prepared for a post-Convention glow, as Convention will warm your heart and inspire you to "Lead Beyond Limits."

Register for the 44th Annual CWBA Convention today!!!
